R&D Lead – Classical Communication & Compute

Responsibilities:

• Define and drive a forward-looking research agenda
• Explore novel architectures and emerging technology paradigms
• Develop prototypes, experiments, and technology demonstrators
• Lead technology foresight and strategic assessments
• Collaborate internationally with academia, startups, and industry leaders
• Represent Deutsche Telekom in global research and industry ecosystems
• Translate research into future network and infrastructure strategies
• Contribute to intellectual property generation, publications, and thought leadership

Requirements:

• Expertise in multiple areas (g. wireless, photonics, AI/HPC, distributed systems, future internet architecture)
• Experience in applied research, prototyping, or advanced tech development
• Ability to bridge research, engineering, and business
• Strong network in academia/industry
• Very good command of English (written and spoken)
• Strong systems-thinking and architectural mindset
• Excellent communication and stakeholder skills
• Curiosity, vision, and passion for deep tech

Nice to have:

• Telecommunications, Computer Science, EE, Physics, or similar, PhDis a significant plus
