Design challenge:

Effective provision of services on one of the largest markets of the Client requires extensive planning of events in which from several to several thousand people take part. Design challenge:

Development of API (middleware), which enables the registration process to be automated for a test. API is used by a web application, data from it flow to educational centre management systems. These systems are 'almost identical' for each country, but some operations require modifications specific for a given location. Additionally, this is not a clean integrative stateless API. Registration starts a long-term process with events initiated by candidates (e.g. online payment), as well as automatically (e.g. text messages reminding about the test time). Both the long-term process and automatic operations may change – their versions appear, which, however, should not affect already registered persons and their processes.

Streamlining deployment on more than 50 servers. Switch from manual deployment to fully automated.

Scope of works of DCG:

Implementation of a fully automated CI/CD pipeline. Each piece of code which will reach the repository is compiled, and then automatically tested (unit, integration and e2e testing) by a build server (TeamCity). If tests are passes successfully a package is created, which then passes the whole route though different environments. From the human point of view, the entire process comes down to pressing a proper button.

Design challenge:

Possibility of extending the range of a mobile application into subsequent countries on the Asian market. An application dedicated for Android devices connected with the API service in the course of all data transmissions. A dedicated testing team examined whether the range extension, and at the same time, a substantial increase in the number of users, will not result in the application's failure, and thereby in cutting off the access for the present users.

Scope of works of DCG:

Preparation of the plan of efficiency tests, selection of methods and tools. Tests of the application in an environment with parameters similar to the production environment. Preparation of a report and presentation of conclusions resulting from tests.

Result:

Design challenge:

Regression tests performed in the process of preparation for large integration of many applications based on a common database, shared by all tested applications. One of challenges was to connect a number of teams involved in testing particular applications, considering the fact that each of these teams had its seat a different location, as well as in a different time zone.

The result were several weeks of tests that provided high quality solutions and resulted in implementation of many applications cooperating with one another in the production environment.

Design challenge:

The change of technology and tools used to create automatic test for an application related to registration to examinations in English. It was caused by a change of an approach to development of the application, as well as plans of complete reconstruction of the application.

Scope of works of DCG:

Based on practices applied in other projects of the company, a testing team created from scratch the configuration of tests and automatic tests verifying main functions of the application. All of this was connected to continuous integration systems (Team City).

The entire process made it possible to develop a new solution for testing applications in TypeScript.
